Performance quality at performance price
Performance quality at performance price. Yes, this is an expensive chip. The extra cache is great, and is where the cost is. I had issue with the motherboard not liking this CPU, however upon investigation it was the RAM causing the issues and the error code was wrong. I have this with a liquid cooled system for the CPU only and it has never crossed 55 degrees, even under stress. Benchmarking over 3x the average system and this has not been stressed to it's limit. I am impressed. Mainly purchased because of the extra cache and the clock speed. It has not disappointed, but cheaper also has the potential to keep pace for most of the work. Spend this cash only if you absolutely MUST have the best, because for very little less performance you can cut the price by 2/3.

excelent
This processor is a beast. Everything runs fast on my new pc. Haven't tested out much with the games but when I play Mass Effect 3 it doesn't lag even though I have an old GTS 8800 card. I know that my old pc would have struggled with it. I open up several programs and it runs smoothly. Video editing in HD is not a problem either. I would definitely recommend this.

Currently a waste of money...
Don't listen to the top two reviewers. Not only is this not for the casual gamer, it's not for the hardcore gamer, either. No game in existence out now or in the next year or two will ever take advantage of this CPU and its 6 cores. In fact, early benchmarking still has the quad-core 2500K and 2600K CPU's to beat this in terms of gaming performance, and these can easily be OC'd to 4.5GHz with a decent CPU cooler, so it's not like this really ups the ante in that department. The only reason anyone would ever buy this CPU at THIS MOMENT is if you truly have cash collecting dust and need something to spend it on so you can brag to your friends and anonymous people on internet forums. What's worse, you need to buy a brand new MOBO that supports LGA 2011 which makes this even more expensive and unnecessary at this time. Much better off to spend that $1000 on more practical upgrades for a PC, or hell, build an ENTIRE new PC with that money...

The fastest, but not worth it.
True, this CPU is one of the fastest on the market right now, but that doesn't mean it's worth it. First of all, I would not recommend this for any type of gamer, casual or hardcore. The integrated graphics are good, but you'll see very little performance difference between this processor and any other top notch Intel processor. Gamers would get much more bang for their buck by investing in a pricey GPU such as the GTX 680. For those who are just looking for an upgrade to their workstation, I wouldn't recommend this either. It may be the fastest, but it isn't worth the price. With Intel's other CPUs, you can get very near the same performance you can with this one. The 3930k was just a little bit slower in benchmarks and it's ~$400 cheaper. Another reason some would buy this is for the cores. The six cores are impressive, but AMD has already released a 8 core processor for $200. Their cores may not be as strong as Intel's, but saving $800 is definitely worth it. I will however defend Intel for not shipping their stock heatsink with this product. If you're spending $1000 on a processor, and you're not going to overclock it, then you're wasting your money. And if you do overclock, you should by no means be using the stock heatsink. Besides cooling isn't that expensive, get an H50 for around $50. If you're buying this, money shouldn't be an object anyways. FINAL VERDICT: It's the fastest, but not by much. Doesn't matter what you're doing, gaming, video editing, or just casually browsing the web, there's very little that you can benefit from by getting this over another high end processor. Unless you just can't be satisfied with anything but the best, you should probably save your money and get a cheaper processor that's worth it, or wait for the next generation of Intel CPUs.

Crazy fast, but is it worth the price?
There is no argument that the 3960x is extremly fast. Currently it is the fastest available consumer CPU, you can search many reviews and benchmarks and they'll all tell you the same. The one thing you should realize though, it is only a little bit faster than the 3930k, (clock speed wise it is only a 100mhz difference, and benchmarks have shown the difference between the two are fairly narrow). Just looking at the published specifications on intel's website, you'll find the two identical except for the 100 mhz difference and a 3MB larger L3 cache. Basically, for an average user, they would not be able to tell the difference between the two performance wise. What it comes down to is how much you're willing to spend for just a little more speed. The performance jump from an i7-2600k to a i7-3630k is pretty good, but the difference between a 3630k and 3960x is very small, and it can be pretty hard to justify a ~400 dollar price difference between the 3630k and 3960x. If you're not worried about cost, and have to own the absolutely fastest processor available, then the 3960x is your choice now, just don't expect it to be blazingly faster than the one step down 3930k. One other small note I want to add is that these processors (the Sandy Bridge-E processors), do not come with a cpu heat sink/fan. If you're building a system, don't forget to find a fan for the socket LGA 2011 for these processors. The price difference aside, I love my new 3960x.

Bis jetzt wurde mit allen Motherboard's kompatibel . Leistung ist auch da , nur bei der Temperatur von Prozessor muss man höllisch aufpassen , damit nicht zu schnell steigt.
