Fruit, Berry and Nut Inventory, 4th ed.
What a wonderfully extensive book. Under each of the title headings there are numerous entries. Each of these entries has their growing habits, fruit description, growing zones, some care instruction, first and continued crop expectations described. Additionally, the book lists which nurseries carry that particular variety. I would recomment this book for anyone who likes plants, wants to have a magnificient yard or is thinking about going into a small or full scale farm/grove production. I am truly content with every aspect of this book.

Great Resource
I am a Master Gardener and like to try various fruits and berries. This is an invaluable tool in being about to find the resources I need. It has both wholesale and retail vendors for most of the Fruit, Berry and Nut plants and trees that I want. It has saved me hours of research on the internet to try and find the resources I need. It was well worth the cost. If you are a gardener that like the unusual verities or something different than the run of the mill verities that you get from the Big Box Stores. I would recommend this book.

Yay!
I love these inventory books. I also have the one for veggies. Using this book I have found a few companies offering Organic and/or Heirloom trees so I don't have to buy the usual Hybrid Patented varieties the nurseries are selling. Fantastic thorough descriptions on each variety. I recommend both this book and the veggie version to every gardener out there! Stop buying hybrids

Just received this book.
Already had the Garden Seed Inventory, 6th Edition. This book is coming in handy to locate native spicies that I have not been able to locate and ones I did not know existed. Think I'm gonna LOVE this book as much as the Garden Seed book!I would recommend this book to anyone planning a berry patch, &/or fruit/nut orchard, and to anyone who loves to glean knowledge about fruits, berries and nuts.

Most valuable resource on where to get fruit, berry and nut plants plus seeds in the US.
For a person who is interested in some professional or business aspect of sources for growing fruit, berry and nut plants this is an almost complete reference on who, what and where. It does not offer information about specific plants, how to grow them etc. All in all it may be a little too much information for the average gardener but I think it should be an essential for any library, research institution or related agricultural business.

Great Resource!
This book is packed FULL of information about all sorts of fruit, berry and nut varieties, talking about the quality of the plants and fruits, chill hours, growing requirements, etc. Includes a list of possible nurseries that carry the various varieties too.

Needs regular update
Like the tons of information, but would like to see a yearly update because of the changes that are constantly occurring in this area.

For the serious plant geek, not a dilettante
At a recent grafting workshop, I had dozens of apple varieties to choose from and only 10 rootstock. Which should I pick? Luckily, the hosts had copies of several books, including this one, on hand as selection aids. While other books had pretty pictures and nice formatting, Fruit, Berry, and Nut Inventory came through with more descriptions than anyone else and I immediately ordered a copy of my own when I got home.Keep in mind that this is a dry, list-type book. If you're obsessed with rare fruit varieties, you'll spend hours poring over the descriptions. But if you're looking for pretty pictures (or *any* pictures), look elsewhere.
