Simple dock, looks good works great!
Package came in a nice small box, fit well and was protected well. Box was easy to open and the contents are easy to remove, no hassle. Included in the box is the dock itself, a mini USB cable, two dock adapters (3G/3Gs, IP4) and some manuals. The dock is very nice, there are photos I uploaded of the dock from all angles so you all can see it clearly. It is black matte and looks great. It has a decent weight to it and the matte actually extends to the base, resulting in it having some traction so you don't have to worry about it slipping around freely if you happen to just tap it.Using the dock is very simple. The dock has a mini USB port in the rear, you plug in the USB wire into the dock, then into a USB port on your computer and you're all set. Charges well and syncs just fine. A nice thing about this is that the dock can be connected to a computer for charge and sync or just directly connected to the wall using any charger that has a mini USB port. (ie Blackberry charger or Apple USB Power Adapter + mini USB) I have an iPhone 3Gs so I take the iPhone 3G dock adapter, which of course has the same exact dimensions as the 3Gs, and attach it. Once on, you just put your phone onto the dock and it holds it well in place. I haven't used it with a case yet, however the only case I own is the CapsuleNeo from switcheasy which comes with its own dock attachment.@@@NOTE!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND TAKING OUT THE ADAPTER IN ORDER FOR YOUR CASE TO FIT!!!@@@Why? Well, the iPhone leans back at an angle and with the case, the phone is even heavier. There's no support on the back of the phone without an adapter so basically the phone just leans back and puts all its weight on the dock connector. The dock connector will bend back damaging the dock AND the iPhone.Removing the dock attachment is easy enough, there is a slit (which I uploaded a photo to show) which you can just get your nail in there and just pull it up, simple and easy.Overall, a very well built dock that does what it was meant to do and well. Well worth the $20 spent.

Really Nice Dock
I just switched over to an iPhone 4s and I needed docks for my office and my bedside table at home. The Apple OEM dock only comes in white, is tiny, and is overpriced. So I needed an alternative. The Kensington dock worked out perfectly.PRO's>It's BLACK and matches my black iPhone>It's larger and heavier than the OEM Apple iPhone dock (more stable and much easier to put in/take out the phone)>It's covered in a really nice looking rubberized "soft-touch" finish which also keeps it from sliding around on the desk/table/surface it is on.>It uses a STANDARD MINI-USB CABLE instead of Apple's proprietary docking port cable. You can use whatever length cable you need.>No annoying lights that illuminate your bedroom ceiling at night.>Provides a very secure, but not overly snug fit for the iPhone 4sCON's>It partially obstructs the HOME button (only button on front of phone). Not a deal-killer, but annoying.I am really happy with my Kensignton iPhone docks. I like to have my phone to the right of my dual-monitor setup, and my computer is on the floor way over beyond the left side of my monitors, so I need a really long cable to connect my smartphones to the PC. I am also borderline OCD and I HATE the idea of hacking together some USB extension cable and a shorter Apple docking connector cable to hook up a dock. The Kensington dock uses a "plain vanilla" USB-A male to USB-MINI B male cable to connect to your PC or wall charger. I got a 10' cable of this type for under five bucks and this gives me a perfect, clean, high-speed connection exactly the way I want it. At home, I use the short cable supplied with the dock to connect to a wall charger and it also works great.I am constantly perplexed by the number of products I encounter that would literally be "perfect" if only the manufacturer had included one simple totally obvious feature/design element etc. This dock is no exception. The insert that holds the iPhone 4s partially obstructs the bottom of the HOME button. You can still press it, but it looks sort of strange, and you do have to make an effort to get to the button, vs. being able to just press it like normal. It would have been a TOTAL NO-BRAINER to simply mold the plastic insert so that it had a small circular indentation in front of the button, allowing 100% unrestricted access to it. Somehow, the design team managed to miss this totally obvious feature, or chose to exclude it for some reason. I'd give this product 5-stars if this critical detail had not been overlooked, instead, I am giving it 4.There are several other reviews that mention the buyer received Kensington docks that appeared to be "used" rather than "new". This happened to me as well, and in my case, I ordered two (2) of them and they arrived in the same shipment. BOTH were clearly product that had been opened and re-packaged. I know this for sure because the little plastic circular seals on the boxes were broken, and the packaging on the interior of the two items did not match. Now, since these were about 50% of the price Kensington sells them for, and both docks were in 100% perfect cosmetic and working condition, I'm not too upset. But I think that the seller should have clearly indicated that the items offered are not "new", because they aren't. Since I am rating the DOCK, and not the SELLER, I am still giving it 4 stars.Overall, I highly recommend this dock. It is in a totally seperate category above and beyond the Apple OEM iPhone dock in terms of build quality, flexibility of installation, and functionality.

iPhone 4S dock, check!
I took a very minor risk ordering one of these when I pre-ordered the new iPhone 4S last week. I'm pleased to report that it works perfectly. The 4S charges and syncs quickly while in this dock. I've purchased cheaper no-name docks for my iPhone 3GS in the past and I've had mixed luck with them working at all, or charging but not making a good data connection with the computer. So I didn't want to go dirt-cheap this time. Luckily, Kensington is a brand I've known for many years and the price on this dock is quite good anyway. If there are any downsides, they are not bad: 1) This dock doesn't sport a typical Apple dock connector on the back, but a mini-USB port. The mini-USB to USB cable that comes with is a fairly-short 1 meter long. This would never comfortably reach from my desk down to my Mac Pro on the floor underneath. Fortunately, things still work perfectly via USB 2.0 hub. If your Mac/PC is on your desktop, this obviously isn't a problem (actually, shorter runs are a plus). And 2) The shape, with the cup-like rim around the top edge, is weird. But that's not as noticeable on your desk as it is in the product photos here.Note that the item I received only had an insert for the iPhone 4, and that was the only one shown in the manual's parts list. It looks like the insert for older iPhones--mentioned in the Amazon item description right now--is no longer included (but that may just be the reseller I chose).

Great Dock, Fits most cases
The Kensington iPhone dock (iPhones 3 & 4 + iPods 4 and under) works like a charm, outputting 1A, charges your phone fairly quickly and will fit most cases (exceptions being extra large cases such as a lifeproof case) the actual 30-bit connector is raised a little from the bottom of the groove so that it can accommodate for cases, great design, highly recommended.

Case compatability
This dock has been great for an iPhone 4S. Unfortunately when used with the appropriate insert, it is not compatible with even thin silicone cases. This has become obsolete now we have a LifeProof case which is a shame as it was a nice product for the bed-side table.
