Windows Internals 6
I purchased the Kindle version of this book to view it on my desktop using the Windows Kindle software utility. I am very impressed with the scope of content and the depth of many of the topics. I like to have a firm grasp of what is happening "under the hood" in Windows and this book is an excellent start. I like viewing it on my PC so I can open other resources (i.e. Wikipedia, Google, etc.) to dig even deeper and tie concepts together in real-time. I can't wait for Part 2 to come out. Excellent read!!

Excelent Book on Windows
Windows Internals is a very good book about Microsoft's Operating System. I recommend it to anyone that's interested in learning what's under the hood of the Windows OS.

Lot of detail
If you are interested in how things work this is the book series for you. Parts 1 & 2 cover different areas and probably should be purchased as a set but I haven't noticed that one says to see a chapter in the other but I suppose they do to some extend. I use them as reference and look things up as I have interest in the topic or needs dictate. I think it was a good purchase for me.

Highly recommended
Very good contents, most of needed topics covered. I can find answers in less than an hour. Especially useful for me when I do not use it constantly, but need to refresh memory time to time and find details of something.Digital edition has ugly pictures. That's not good that book is split into 2 parts EVEN FOR DIGITAL EDITION.

Great book
I liked it. I haven't read Windows Internals before, but this book is awesome. It explains everything about Windows at such low level that I feel I could write my own OS that way. Must have if you want to know how Windows works under the hood.

Comprehensive Windows guide
I think this book (which I already knew from previous editions) is specially interesting to administrators and security managers of corporations running Windows machines. I think it is of paramount importance to understand the complexities of a OS in order to really solve the problems that might arise. The book, in addition to presenting the kernel architecture and all the inner details about Windows workings, it also gives pointers to useful tools that help in debugging the kernel and really understanding what's happening under the cover. For a person just interested in computer science and OS (as it is my case), I think this kind of reading is essential, although it might be a bit confusing some times because of the huge complexity of such piece of software, what in turn might turn it a bit boring from time to time. But in general, if you're really interested in OS and software engineering, this book is highly recommended. Hope that Windows 8 doesn't change too many things...

Really good book, but contains only half the contents
As usual this is yet another phenomenal perspective of Windows Internals from Mark. The previous version covers much more detail. So you need to be sure Part 1 has the sections you need. I am eagerly waiting for the Part 2, which will cover memory management among other things. Based on what I have seen debugging, the previous version of Windows Internals (5th edition) is still valid on Win 8 and Win 7 for the most part for the missing sections.

Excellent book!
This book is an excellent book and probably the best one for people who want to delve into Windows Operating System architecture and debugging. However, it requires good fundamental concepts. This book is highly recommended on your book shelf if you are a Windows System engineer responsible for working with core Operating System concepts.
