Top 10 Istanbul (Eyewitness Top 10 Travel Guide)

The Top 10 series are great to give you an excellent idea of where to go. I've bought these for Iceland, Vancouver, etc. The maps can be improved a little. This particular volume gives excellent recommendations on where to go in Istanbul based on how long you're staying and how much money to spend. As a side note, Istanbul is very much worth a visit.

My husband and I were planning a 5 day trip to Istanbul and this resource was the perfect guide. We had a chance to see 7 of the top 10 attractions, all of which were worth a visit. We also appreciated the brief summaries of Turkish history, culture, and cuisine provided in the book. There is also an excellent fold-out map of the City.

My brother was thrilled to receive and use this on his recent trip to Turkey. The DK books are fabulous...easy to read, clear, colorful, great photos, with so much good information.

I normally love these guides, but this is the first time I bought a Kindle version. The experience is not satisfying at all. You lose out on all of the beautiful pictures even when reading this on a Kindle Fire HDX. I bought this yesterday and will be asking for a refund.

Great guide. Only one clarification on page 32. The name Istanbul is not derived from "Islambol" but from the Greek terms "is tin poli" which was phonetically transformed to "stin poli" or "stimboli" then Istanbul. The Greek meaning for stin poli was "in the city" or "to the city". It was known as just the "City" for it was for centuries the grandest Metropolis.

I got the Kindle edition for my upcoming trip, actually I use a Kindle app on my Asus Transformer tablet and the book seems to read correctly with proper page links, etc. Sometimes I have found that their are issues with this but not on this book. The books seems quite up to date and will come in handy as I attempt to be the tour guide for my wife on our trip! In general I like DK travel series over some of the other ones and the Top 10 obviously has way more than 10 things listed. Good pictures. The only negative is that some of the map images are tiny! But I usually pick up a small folding map when I go abroad and leave the book in my hotel room.

Highly recommend it. Although ticket prices are slightly outdated, it provides helpful information about almost anything. It also comes with two maps, one separable and the other printed on the front and back covers.

Clearly outlines the most important sight/activities in Istanbul. I like these "Top Ten " guides for the basics, when I go to a new place. Also, the format, including photos and illustrations, makes it easy to flip through and find again. Slim pocket book to take with you.

Very handy insight & useful in preplanning visit . Information covers what the tour operators do not disclose.

Great Book, has everything you need to enjoy your visit in Istanbul.

Very detailed with excellent pictures. Included a fold out map which is very handy. I absolutely recommend this book to anyone travelling to Istanbul.
