Quiet and fast - great data drive paired with an SSD
I was looking for a quiet HDD to install as a data drive on the new desktop system I was building. My primary drive was 256 GB SSD hard. The SSD is extremely fast. I have Windows 7 and all of my software loaded on the SSD for quick launch (Windows startup ~15 seconds, Word starts in about 2 seconds). They are also silent which I really like too. The SSDs are very expensive for mass storage (~$1 per GB). I needed a second drive for storage (music, videos, pics, etc.) I was really trying to go for a quiet system. Allot of research later, I went with the WD Green....I can not hear it read/writing unless I literally put my ear up to the machine. I have notice zero lag or performance issues with the drive. At first I was apprehensive about using a driving that spun so slowly, but it works perfectly for what I need. I am not sure how well it would do as a primary drive. Amazons frustration free package is a great. It arrived in a simple yet sturdy and durable. It was well protected. I could open the box by hand. The drive was suspended in a cardboard mount inside of a static bag

Great Drives for a Broke College Student!
Ok Ill be honest, I bought these drives because I am a broke college student majoring in computer science and I wanted large capacity drives for my dropbox applications that are hosted from home. Going into this, I wanted something that was power efficient (Read on and see why) because I pay for the power that my server rack uses. That being said, I pretty much broke every single rule when it comes these drives. For starters I threw 6 of them in a raid 5 config on a Dell Poweredge 2950 gen 3 (which eats up a lot of power, well more than i would like). I did not run the WDIDLE utility and I have reformatted these drives countless times. I have ran multiple VM's, streamed countless movies and uploaded and downloaded terabytes of files from them. Having them for a year, I have run into ZERO issues with these drives. I must say that the power savings are night in day coming from the stock 10k rpm drives the server came with, yes the performance decreased going to the greens but i was looking for more of an archive solution.

Great hardrive and reliable
Great hardrive and reliable. I needed another hardrive to replace my almost failing hardrive from the manufacturer's hardrive that came with my PC. The box simply came with the hardrive and nothing else, which is the best because I don't need any other software or screws to install. 1TB is a lot of diskspace for me which is nice to have. It is very affordable as before internal hardrives can be very expensive. The disk is working very well right now and I hope this hardrive will last for a good amount of time. I think it will definitely last longer than my previous hardrive. Great product! And I'm very satisfied with it.

So far so good.
So far so good. I installed this bad boy a few months ago and it has been going strong. It's much faster than my old hard drive, and I foresee no major problems. I *did* have a strange problem when I first installed it, but I have no idea if it had anything to do with the hard drive or not. Long story short, but OS (which is on a separate SSD) would not boot, and I eventually had to reinstall the OS. Again, I'm fairly certain it had nothing to do with the new HD, and more likely it was my own fault, but I thought I'd mention it in case anyone else had a similar issue. Recommended HD!

Great internally, not so good in a USB 3.0 enclosure
I've had this Green WD10EZRX 1.0 TB drive for 6 months now and have had almost no issues. It worked excellently as an internal drive, but I've tried 2 brands of USB 3.0 external enclosures and it won't stay 'recognized'. The moment I connect the drive, Windows pops up the Safely Remove Hardware tool, but the system doesn't recognize the drive until I go into Disk Management and enable it. I am able to use it just fine up until the drive is disonnected or powered down, but upon reconnecting I have to enable the drive once again. The enclosures are both current models, and FWIW I tried putting a WD Black in each enclosure and did not have any problems with it whatsoever. So maybe my Green is faulty, or maybe it just doesn't play well in external enclosures.

Good hard drive, bad shipping
I've always had very good luck with Western Digital hard drives and Amazon. This time Amazon let me down. Received HD shipped via Fedex-USPS a day later than was promised. Installed hard drive into my computer and formatted it. Everything was fine and working as expected. Then I attempted to copy some files on the hard drive and the computer locked up. I tried rebooting and the computer locked up when Windows started. I then removed the new hard drive from the system and everything was normal again. Just out of curiosity, I hibernated the computer when it was normal, connected the new hard drive and started the computer. The computer booted up normally, but did not show the drive in the computer directory. It did show it in disk management, but would not respond when accessed. I know the hard drive is very good, as I have the same model in my computer, and have used it almost continuously for 8 months, with no problems. I believe the problem is the way it was shipped. A hard drive is probably one of the most precise mechanical inventions ever created. The way it was said to be shipped was Amazon's "Ships in Certified Frustration-Free Packaging". This is the reason I ordered it from Amazon, in the first place. Instead I received it in the original vendor OEM box which fit in my standard rural mail box, with plenty of room to spare. Very disappointing. I returned the hard drive and will see what happens. Update.....Received refund as promised. Thank you Amazon for your exceptional return policies.

I've installed this in a Dell Dimension 3100 along with a new copy of W7 and a new Radeon graphics card as an upgrade from the old 320GB drive, XP and the old MB graphics. It is significantly faster in use than the original drive, and has about the same acceptably low level of acoustic noise. At a claimed 150MBytes/s host to/from drive (sustained) data transfer rate this WD10EZRX is the fastest of all the current WD Green drives even if not the biggest. The rotational speed is chosen using the IntelliPower algorithm to maximise transfer rate in all parts of the disk while minimising errors. It fitted into the original 'clip-in' drive caddy with no problems, and plugged into the machine as normal. The drive initialised and formatted correctly under the control of the W7 DVD and tested out OK with no errors. It runs cooler to the touch than the original did. I've restored all the previous data from the backup , and now keep the old drive untouched in the packing the WD came in as an emergency spare with XP and all the old software and data 'just in case'. It is still looking good after almost a fortnight in service. I'll report if there are any problems, but based on previous experience with these I expect it should be OK for a few years now. Addendum. 13th October 2013 Added another of these to the same computer because the first one has proved to be excellent. This is for more flexibility with the editing so that all the big data files are kept on a separate D: work drive with its own distinct external mirror back up, thus leaving the C: drive with all the system files and programs relatively unstressed for longest life.

E' molto silenzioso, temperatura basse e consuma pochissimo. Lo si può utilizzare per back up del Sistema operativo, back up foto, back up giochi, back up Itunes ecc...

MfG
